Supporting Students Through Exam Pressure & Stress

A student wellness workshop hosted by Patiala University — in partnership with Guidance Lab

Patiala University recently invited Mrs. Shaveta Sharma — Psychologist and Counselor at Guidance Lab — to lead a dedicated session with students on two of the most pressing concerns in young people’s lives today: exam stress and adolescent mental health.

The session brought together students, faculty, and school leadership in an open, non-judgmental space — one where questions about pressure, anxiety, and wellbeing could be asked freely. The warmth and engagement in the room reflected something simple but important: students are ready to talk when given the right opportunity.

Exam Stress

Students explored the difference between pressure that motivates and pressure that overwhelms — and practical ways to stay grounded through high-stakes periods.

Adolescent Mental Health

The session covered what emotional wellbeing looks like during the teenage years, and why it matters as much as academic performance.

When to Seek Support

Students were encouraged to recognize signs that they — or a friend — might benefit from talking to a counselor, and how to take that first step without stigma.

Mental health conversations in schools and universities are not a luxury — they are an essential part of education. When young people understand their own minds, they are better equipped to face every challenge, academic and beyond.
